Sayings from a Wise Man

My grandfather was a collector of quotes and poems. A high school dropout, he was an avid reader of three daily newspapers and multiple magazines.

On the sales counter of his furniture store, he posted written snippets of wisdom collected during his fifty years of ownership. When the store closed, I collected these artifacts for some strange reason. Today, I'll share some with you.

I'm so used to being tense, when I am calm, I get nervous

Perserverance is one of the great elements of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, your are sure to wake up somebody.

Silence doesn't indicate wisdom. Knowing when to remain silent does.

Don't be critical of others-it is a projection of self and destructive for all.

The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.

I'm a great believer in luck. The harder I work the more of it I seem to have.
